George O. Waring IV, MD

George O. Waring IV, MDDr. George Waring IV is the founder and Medical Director of the Waring Vision Institute
in Mt. Pleasant, SC. He has served as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Bioengineering at the College of Engineering and Science at Clemson University, as well as Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of Refractive Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Storm Eye Institute. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Waring has received numerous awards and distinctions in ophthalmology including the Presidential Award and the Distinguished Lans Award, both from the International Society of Refractive Surgery. He is active in clinical research and incorporates the latest advances in technology into his practice. He has performed surgery, taught new surgical procedures and delivered invited lectures on four continents. He participates in and chairs of numerous professional committees and sits on the editorial board of both the Journal of Cataract and Refractive surgery as well as the Journal of Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Waring serves on the executive committee for the American College of Ophthalmic Surgeons and has served on the executive committee for the International Society of Refractive Surgery.

We ask if you have any symptoms, including a fever, flu-like symptoms, cough, shortness of breath, to please contact your physician to reschedule your surgery and call your primary care physician immediately. Additionally, if you have traveled outside of the State of South Carolina in the last 14 days, or have been exposed to an individual suspected or with a confirmed diagnosis of COIVD-19, notify our staff prior to your surgery date.

To maintain social distancing, we ask that you bring only one other person of 18 years of age or older with you into the building during your surgery. Your cooperation in following these guidelines is vital to limit exposure during this challenging time.
